Let it Be

Scripture: Exd 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Observation: "I AM" is the Hebrew word Hayah, which means to exist: Past, present, future. The best English equivalent is the forms of the word "Be", of which "I AM" is the present tense. All tenses are implied here, I Am, I was, I will be. In fact in the book of Revelations God uses all three tenses to say his name. In Revelations 1:8 God says "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty"

Application: God is eternity, he exists in the eternal. His ways don't always translate well into the past, or the present, or the future exclusively. In fact we can look at what he did in the past, without considering what he will do in the future, and it wont make any sense. Or we can look at prophesy in the future without looking at what he did in the past or present and that wont make any sense. Our brains dont process eternal existence well, we are time based creatures, but our destiny is eternity.

Prayer: Dearest Jesus, we love you Lord. I know that you have only good in your heart for me, and I trust you, even when I don't understand what you are doing. Help me to understand your works, and yet be wary of the devil who seeks to destroy your works.

Scripture: Gen 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be]. Gen 49:11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:

Observation: The prophesies of Jesus Christ are amazing, they extend back to the very beginning of the Bible, and throughout its many books. This prophesy is of Judah, who was the ancestor of Jesus. One of its meanings is that Jesus will be with us until the end (Shiloh, a time of peace).

Application: We can have assurance that Jesus will never leave us, he will always be with us until he takes us to that place of peace, which is ours for a possession... a gift from him.

Prayer: Thank You Jesus, that your blood secured eternal peace for us. I pray that none would refuse you, and the eternal destiny that you have secured for us.

Commitment

Scripture: Gen 17:23 And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him. Gen 17:24 And Abraham [was] ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. Gen 17:25 And Ishmael his son [was] thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

Observation: Can you imagine grown men being circumcised? Can you imagine what it would take to convince a grown man to allow himself to be circumcised? But that is what they did, the same day that God told Abraham to do it! THAT is Commitment!

Application: How committed are we to our God? If he asked us to do something so painful, would we do it?

Prayer: Dearest Jesus, we love you Lord. Thank you that you first loved us. You know our hearts, you know our minds, you know our sin. Thank you that you have forgiven us and cleansed us. It is by you that we pray that we would have the commitment of Abraham, that our faith would be as strong as Abraham's through you.

Sure Prophesy

Scripture: Daniel Chapter 7

Observation: It has been a while since I have read the prophesy in Daniel 7. I have always been a bit perplexed by prophesy. However, Daniel 7 is one of the clearest and most straightforward prophesies of the Bible. He shows three kingdom, the Lion, the Leopard, and the Bear, and a fourth Kingdom that has world wide dominion and precedes the return of Jesus Christ, Judgement Day, and the Reign of Christ on the Earth. The interpretation of the scripture is given for us in the 2nd part of Daniel 7.

Application: It is amazing that thousand of years earlier, God so clearly showed his prophets what was going to come to pass in the last days. In addition to Daniel, we also have the Apostle John, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and others who were very clear and specific in documenting what God showed them about what was going to come to pass. Many men have been wrong about interpreting these prophesies, but the prophesies themselves have never been wrong!

Prayer: Thank You Jesus for revealing your plans to us. Thank you that you love us so much, that you wanted us to know what was going to happen. In the name of Jesus, we pray understanding over the remnant of the Church of Jesus Christ that they might understand what is going to come and fulfill their part of God's plan for the end times.

A New World

Scripture: 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Observation: Just as Peter had prophesied, many religious "experts" have determined that the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ and the destruction of this world are not really going to happen. Peter wrote this letter especially to make this point, that we do not listen to them. It will happen, it may be tomorrow or thousands of years from now, but it will happen. We can count on it.

Application: So how would you act if you knew tomorrow was your last day on earth? that is how we should live each day. Loving others, and loving our Lord.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you that you are not willing that any of us should go to eternal fire and damnation. Thank you for delaying the destruction of the earth until everyone has had a chance to give their lives to you and seal their eternity in heaven.

God's Word

Scripture: Ezekiel 13:9And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

Observation: God specifically directed the "writings of the house of Israel". God directed what would be in and not in those writings, which now make up our Bible.

Application: The Bible is not only trustworthy, it is directed by God. Only the prophets who were prophesying from God were included in the Bible. The Bible is God's word, powerful, and full of God himself.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for your Word. Thank you for preserving your Word. Thank you that you will preserve it forever. Open our spiritual eyes to the power that is in your Word. Make it alive in our hearts and souls. Thank You.

God's Wrath

Scripture: Ezekial 6:1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2Son of man, set thy face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them, 3And say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys; Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.

Observation: It is very clear in this scripture that the Lord personally destroyed Israel during the period of its history where Babylon sieged and ultimately destroyed Israel. We know from other scripture that the King of Babylon was directed by God for the destruction of Israel due to their great, never ceasing, rebellion against God.

Application: Our nations are also in rebellion against God, however as we live in the Church age, where Jesus has personally taken God's wrath upon himself, it is hard for us to understand how the loving God we know could do such a thing. However, prophesy tells us that God will again pour out his wrath one final time upon the earth in the seven years prior to when Jesus returns to rule and reign as King.

Prayer: Thank you Jesus, that you are a just God; Full of mercy, full of grace, full of love without end. Your ways are true, you alone are righteous. We trust in you, and we look forward to being with you always.
